About the Quality Program (QP) ANADO Members fully support the goal of ensuring consistency and harmonization in how mandatory requirements in the World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards are implemented. Practical experience with anti-doping programs has shown, however, that there are different interpretations of what constitutes effective programs and there can be considerable variance in many aspects of program design and operations. As a result, Members have identified promoting quality and consistency in their programs as a top ANADO objective. The QP aims to provide a practical and reliable process for ANADO Members to work together to develop, maintain and acknowledge quality anti-doping programs. Participation in the QP is voluntary. All levels of program development benefit from quality reviews and ongoing improvement. While incorporating quality principles is often seen as a future step after core program requirements are in place, many of these principles can and should be applied from the start. At the other end of the spectrum, well-established programs need to be attentive to quality control and not rely on familiarity with routines. The QP plays an important role in promoting this continuum of quality assurance. The QP is being implemented by ANADO’s Quality Working Commission with input from ANADO Members. The QP provides a quality assessment of Members’ anti-doping programs, quality recognition ratings for the program areas that are reviewed, and access to program development resources and support. By participating in the Quality Program and helping each other with program development, Members are advancing a collective anti-doping mandate that must be effective across all borders in order for athletes to train and compete on a level playing field. |
